Digital Wedding Photography Guide

For anyone that is or has been married, the events of the day can be captured in images, forever. Now with digital wedding photography it is easy for wedding photographers to almost instantly save and show the couple the images from the wedding.

This isn't easy; creating that perfect shot if you are taking photographs without help as there is only so much you can do on your own without help. Here are some tips if you find yourself at a friend or relations wedding taking photos with your digital camera.

Firstly, if you want to take a picture of the couple or any other guest, make sure that the background is good and the shot will not be too crowded. Often the couple is in the thick of a crowd and at this point it may be easier to try and capture just their head and shoulders.

Try to get guests that have spectacles on to either remove them or hold their head at an angle so that there isn't a reflection obscuring their eyes. If there is someone in the group that you particularly want to take a photograph of but they are in a crowd then try using the zoom, it will give a good close-up that you wouldn't achieve any other way.

Where possible, try to capture shots that are natural and candid as these always look so natural when viewed later; one way to do this is to use the cameras optical zoom. With digital wedding photography always remember to be ready for the shot as it saves people posing.

All your efforts will be wasted if you forget to have fresh batteries or carry enough memory for your digital camera to take every image from the day. As a general rule, if your camera is a 6 mega pixel resolution then you will need a large storage capacity card that will hold a few hundred shots at high resolution so a 1 gigabyte card should be sufficient.

The reason you need to set the cameras resolution to the maximum is because the colors will be richer and if you want to enlarge the photos, it won't be a problem. To ensure your pictures are safe and ready to print, save them as soon as possible to your computer's hard drive and create a CD you can present to the couple.

If you have a passion for photography and a good relationship with the two people getting married then your digital wedding photography images should come out just fine.
